FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons are putting the final touches on their draft board this week.

With the mega-trade between the Rams and Titans, the Falcons are virtually certain to have a strong defensive player available when they select with the 17th pick overall.

The have heavily scouted linebackers, safeties and tight ends for the draft. They are also looking to add an interior offensive linemen.

Sirius NFL radio analysts Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan, on their Moving the Chains show, had the Falcons move up to the 14th slot to select Michigan State offensive tackle Jack Conklin with their first round pick.

Who ever they pick will be a mistake. The have no football person in the front office. Kills me, and I hopw I am wrong. Been a fan since '66, never been happy.

I say stack the O line. If ryan keeps throwing picks we know it's time to cut ties. This will shut up both sides on the ryan issue.

I still say trade up for a higher 2nd round pic and get Hunter Henry. Most complete tight end to enter the draft in years, and nobody picks a TE in the first round.

"Defense wins championships," is proven every season. Draft defense in the first two rounds...PLEASE.

Not every season, the Aints won a Super Bowl with an awful defense and an offense that was high powered and unstoppable. The Falcons tried that approach in 2012, and it was working... Until that awful defense we had gave up 3 scores in the 4th quarter.

They may have given up yardage but I do remember that they were #1 in takeaways. The only defensive stats that really matter are takeaways and points allowed. I'd have to look it up, but I do believe they had at least two in the SB. Besides, how long ago was that? How many more examples do you have for me?

Takeaways is based on style of defense not skill of defensive players. You can blitz every play and have aggressive corners and lead the league in turnovers but still have teams put up 50 against you.

Seeing as TD is still our GM,yep we could pick anything we don't need

A guard in the 2nd round? Maybe. But no way do they spend a #1 on a lineman this year. A pass-rusher (LB or DE) to compliment Beasley is a MUST! I mentioned G in the 2nd round, but S is also a top priority. I'm also not sold on Sanu. If a dominant pass-rusher is not available at #17, the Birds should seriously consider a WR. Imagine what JJ could do if he wasn't double-covered every play!

Need a pass rusher tired seeing opposing QB having all day to throw and a no name QB looking like a all pro against the Falcons!

Better not. DRAFT DARRON LEE. don't need a top offense to win the sb. Look at Peyton in sb 50

U can't compete without a great offense line. The Cowboys of the 90s dominated the run game and protected Troy till he destroyed defenses!!

Well, when you score less than 21 points in over half the games.

No we need All Defense unless we taking treadwell with the first pick
