FLOWERY BRANCH — The Atlanta Falcons (6-3), coming off a 43-28 rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles (4-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Here are five things to know about the Falcons on Wednesday:

1. Trufant update. Falcons coach Dan Quinn is scheduled to speak to the media at 12:50 p.m. and will likely open his press conference with an update on cornerback Desmond Trufant’s shoulder/pectoral injury. If he doesn’t, I’m sure that will be the first question.  Trufant was in his normal first-team spot on the official depth chart released by the team on Tuesday.

2. Practice. The Falcons will hold practice at 1:50 p.m. today. Quarterback Matt Ryan is set to speak to the media after practice.

3. Practice squad shuffle. The Falcons signed offensive lineman Blake Muir to the practice squad and waived linebacker Davis Tull. The Falcons also worked out wide receiver Anthony Dable (no college), defensive end Rufus Johnson (Tarleton State), wide receiver Max McCaffery (Duke), defensive end Arthur Miley (Southern), defensive end Lawrence Okoye (no college) and quarterback Ricky Stanzi (Iowa).

4. Eagles reeling. The Eagles started the season 3-0, but have gone 1-4 since. They’ve lost all of their games by one-score and first-year coach Doug Pederson is starting to feel some heat after some shaky decision-making against the Giants.

5. Schultz approves of this message. Columnist Jeff Schultz approved of the Falcons giving a three-year contract extension to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter & Noah Coslov get into the thinking behind Thomas Dimitroff’s contract extension, the Kyle Shanahan-Matt Ryan relationship & the biggest challenge in Philadelphia.
