INDIANAPOLIS — Washington wide receiver John  Ross ran the 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds on Saturday, setting a new combine record.

The previous record of 4.24 was held by Chris Johnson and was set in 2008.

“I felt good,” Ross told NFL Network’s Ike Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew on NFL Network after his run. “I got tight at the end but it felt good coming out so I knew it was probably going to be pretty quick.”

Ross caught 81 passes for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Pac-12 champion Huskies last season. He’s projected as a first-round draft pick along with Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis and Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams.
